HEALTH AND WELLNESS is a textbook for college personal health courses. Its purpose is to teach students how to be healthy and well now and for the rest of their lives.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS, first published in 1982, was the first college text to emphasize a holistic, or wellness, approach to health rather than consider health solely as the avoidance of bodily illness.
Besides scientifically based information, HEALTH AND WELLNESS includes methods, techniques, health tips, and a workbook to help students put the information into practice. The book also contains essays on global health, stress management, and the effects of economic forces on personal and public health.
Gordon ("Doc") Edlin, my co-author, is the best co-author, mentor, and friend anyone could ever have.
